By 1993 Metal had all but disappeared in the United States, but in Europe it never really went away as countries like Germany and bands like RAGE carried the torch forward.
The three-piece, lead by singer/bassist Peavy Wagner, put out one of their strongest efforts “Trapped!” in 1993. The album contained the single ‘Refuge’ that showed their brilliance and combining speed, power and Melody. Rage always had a more “Progressive” edge too with crazy time changes and acrobatic musicianship.
“Refuge” perfectly blended blistering speed with soaring melody to create a wonderful Heavy Metal anthem that still sounds relevant decades later. It’s a song made for playing to thousands at a festival at Wacken (see below).
